Workers Vote for Local 1102 at Eurest Dining Services

Over fifty workers at Eurest Dining Services, a subsidiary of the Compass Group, won union representation when they overwhelmingly voted in support of Local 1102.

The workers prepare and serve food at a prominent office building in New York City. Unhappy with their wages and fed-up with mistreatment, the workers chose to form a union to make their voice heard and leverage their collective strength.

The organizing committee was comprised of Eurest employees led by the Molaisa Thompson, who worked tirelessly to educate the members to the benefits of a union contract. Their efforts were guided along the way by Local 1102 Business Representative and Organizer Liz Torres.

"This is truly a case of workers organizing workers," said Frank S. Bail, President of Local 1102. "It once again proves that when workers are wholly committed to forming a union nothing can stand in their way."

With one hurdle behind them, the union and the workers are now focusing on negotiating a first contract that addresses their economic concerns and provides job security.
